Big Bend National Park

Next stop Big Bend National Park with golf date at Dancing Rabbit near Philadelphia, MS on the way. Well the best plans always seem to change. My cold was not helped by the weather at Talladega so not in playing shape for golf. Rested for a day and proceeded to Texas. One night in Tyler, TX, second night in Big Spring, TX. Then arrived at Big Bend National Park. Gorgeous park of desert, mountains all around, Rio Grande river. Planned to spend few days exploring area.

Unfortunately adventure plans always changing. Of course Mary caught the cold I had been fighting and her symptoms were much worse. Because the park area is about as remote as you can get, we headed for civilization, El Paso, TX. Had Mary checked out and after diagnosis of pneumonia, spent couple nights in hospital. After release with some drugs we decided some dry warmth would do us both some good, and there is plenty of that in the southwest.
Headed for Tucson, AR.

NASCAR at Talladega

Traveled to Huntsville, AL to pick up Mike and Terri and then go on to Talladega. Parked in campground, rainy, muddy, cold. Next campground over was flooded.

But we were pretty comfortable in RV and had fun people to hang out with.

Watched Nationwide race on Saturday from stands at middle of tri-oval directly across from pits.
Can see almost the entire track. Moved to the finish line area for the end which was quite exciting due to wreck right before the finish necessitating a restart, one green lap, and then the last lap. With 3 cars literally neck and neck it was one of, if not the, closest finishes ever, and a big pile up right behind them. Really cool!
Sunday was the Sprint Cup race and we had seats in the stands past turn 2. Rain caused a delay, spent comfortably in the RV, and when action resumed we went back to the track and moved to the finish line area for the rest of the race. Also very close finish due to wreck just before the regular finish necessitating that same restart, green, last lap procedure. So all contenders very close at the end with a surprise winner. Two great races to watch.

NASCAR has a wide range of people attending, very noisy, lots of fun, even with the the rain, cold, and mud.
